Mayberry meets Woodstock is the best way to describe the Linton Music Festival (LMF). It’s small town meets big festival as nearly 30 artists grace 2 stages over 3 days in the rural Indiana city of Linton (pop. 6,000) and home to The Goose Pond, one of the Nation’s largest wetland preservation projects. This year’s festival will take place Friday, August 30th through Sunday, September 1st in the shaded confines of Humphreys Park. From garage bands to hot independent artists, the music offerings are very diverse with genres ranging from indie rock to bluegrass, blues, jazz, and country.
Each year, over 7,000 people showed up from all over the Midwest to take in the sights and sounds of LMF. The festival is a completely free, non-exclusive event that offers entertainment for all ages. Camping is available in several local areas close to the festival grounds.
Linton is located in Greene County, a musically rich area with several talented local artists and bands. These musicians take the stage every Labor Day weekend along with bands from all across the United States (LA, Chicago, Louisville, Florida, Oklahoma). Last year’s show featured bands like The Main Squeeze, Born Again Floozies, Coolidge, and Dickey James and the Blue Flames, to name a few.
The best part of the Linton Music Festival is that it is completely free to the public! The festival operates as a non-profit entity under the Linton Community Development Corporation which strives to promote the musical arts and the City of Linton thanks to our sponsors, donations, and grants from the Indiana Arts Commission, REMC, and Greene County Foundation. Get away from the hustle and bustle and plan your Labor Day weekend at the Linton Music Festival!
